Job description:
Overall Job Purpose
The role will be responsible for operating and monitoring the Mining Fleet Management System for open pit and long haul operations with a strong emphasis on the QA/QC scrutiny of the contractor compliance of material management.
Specific Job Responsibility
Make sound decisions that will help the business effectively manage the Mining Operations.
Monitor and enter correct positioning data and material movements of all mining and hauling equipment with the Fleet Management System.
Maximize compliance of mine operational plan by ensuring that all mining activities are carried out optimally to meet the direction of the operation plan.
Coordinate with Drilling, Blasting and Mine services to effectively run and monitor the mining and hauling operations.
Experience & Qualifications
Knowledge of Fleet Management Systems or strong potential to understand control and data systems
At least 2 years’ practical experience in open pit/underground mining environment.
Experienced user of Microsoft suite, SharePoint,
Beneficial: PowerBI, Analytical software
Full Grade 12 Certificate
Diploma/Degree Mining Engineering or other related to the function will be beneficial to the incumbent.
Job Specific Competencies
Establish an efficient standard radio communication, in this way, influence the crew to follow through instructions and communicate with senior management on production progress.
Load and Haul Optimisation Use the Fleet Management System to optimise all activities in the pit and long haul inclusive of material management, haul truck assignments, servicing schedules, refuelling, shift-change, crusher feed, manning of trucks, correct haul route entry, updated active blast, and active dumps.
Maintenance tracking and constant feedback on estimated time of down equipment release time.
Coordinate safety emergence incidents/accidents with ERT and escalate to key mining management leadership.
Assist in ensuring a safe shift Inclusive of fatigue monitoring, monitoring of weather conditions and lightning alerts, blasting activities and abnormal road conditions.
Ensure Compliance to Mining Plan 36/24 hours dig plan and all geological requirements from Geology Department.
Ensure dispatch team maintains full data integrity, accuracy and reliability. This is inclusive of all data relating to Production and Maintenance
Determine system abnormalities and reports directly to the Ore Control Dispatcher / Mine Planner for correction
Update all Mine Production Databases inclusive of hourly drilled meters, aggregate crusher figures and sentinel quarry.
Assist the dispatching team to ensure all data is accurate and updated reliably inclusive of any maintenance dispatch responsibilities where necessary.
Attend all production review meetings as may be requested.
Other duties as instructed by the Supervisor.
