New Esteghlal FC Pitso Mosimane did not bite his words after having a go at his players following their 3-1 defeat to Kheybar Khorramabad in the Persian Gulf Pro League.
Mosimane was taking charge of his first match since been appointed as the man at the helm of Esteghlal. He had arrived on match day in their AFC Champions League 1-0 defeat to Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al Nassr but was not in the dugout.
The 60-year-old South African tactician scolded his players for not being mentally prepared to fight hard enough and also called for change in playing personnel.
“I have never seen a team so low. Maybe some players don’t realize how big of a name is on their kit. They should not play like this.
“A playmaker midfielder? We have to start making changes, but the most important thing is the mentality of the players. Attitudes must change. This issue is more important than changing personnel. We have to bring players who want to win games.
“This result shows that we did not fight hard enough and we are not ready. We need to fight.
“What are these signs? Changes must be made. The culture is not right. We can change coaches every week and if they don’t want to win, they will always have the same situation,” the former Al Ahly mentor further said.
