Matsheke Resurfaces At New Club

Former Kaizer Chiefs and Stellenbosch midfielder Darrel Matsheke has joined Motsepe Foundation Championship side Pretoria Callies.

The 25-year-old midfielder has been a free agent since parting ways with Stellies in March after alleged disciplinary issues.

He’s now returned to football in the Motsepe Foundation Championship with Callies, alongside his former Chiefs teammate Siphosakhe Ntiya-Ntiya.

The 28-year-old left-back drops down a division too after his off-season with Sekhuhune United, with both now adding valuable experience to their promotion ambitions this season.

“I’m glad to have four experienced players and increase the level of the quality team. The only issue I wish is that they get information and understand what I want and the style of football we playing as soon as possible,” head coach Fabio Lopez tells iDiski Times.

“Much will depend on me to make them understand what I and my staff want, but for sure as I know them already with their effort to understand everything will be easy.”

Tsepho Chaine and Tsepho Sikhosana have both also joined the club after leaving Marumo Gallants.

Callies are currently 13th in the league with six points after seven games and Lopez feels it’s only a matter of time before results are forthcoming.

“In the seven games, we played very good football, something that never happened to me is to have difficulty scoring goals, but I’m sure with new players joining the family we gonna have a better season,” he added.

“Four clean sheets with a good level of game style means that the team deserve to be in a better position in the league.

“My time with the team is not much… but I think we are on the right path to producing quality and beautiful football in our division.”
