Barker Gives Update On Mojela

Stellenbosch FC head coach Steve Barker expects influential attacker Bradley Mojela to resume training in the new week since he last featured in the MTN8 final.

The 28-year-old has been missing for the Cape Winelands outfit since scoring that famous acrobatic opening goal in their 3-1 defeat to cup kings Orlando Pirates earlier this month.

The former TS Galaxy frontman has made a great start to his Stellenbosch life by scoring six goals in nine appearances since joining the club at the start of the season, and his absence was felt during Stellies’ goalless draw against Richards Bay on Saturday.

Barker confirmed that Mojela could start training with the team next week, adding that the absence of Andre de Jong and Athenkosi Mcaba equally affected them.

“He will likely start training in the next week or so,” Barker told the media.

“Initially the prognosis was worse, but after a follow-up, he will most likely start integrating back into training next week.

“We have to keep raising the bar and demand excellence with Mojela out, and Andre de Jong and Athenkosi Mcaba not available for the game, all players who have done really well this season we missed them.

“But hopefully Bradley can get back to being available as soon as possible.”
