Ahly Win Another Trophy, One Game Away From Real Clash

CAF Champions League winners Al Ahly have lifted the African–Asian–Pacific Cup after beating AFC champions Al Ain 3-0 on Tuesday.

The Egyptian giants have once again added another trophy to their illustrious trophy cabinet after beating the Asian champions in the newly-found Intercontinental Cup.

The tournament sees the champions of the six confederations go up against each other across four rounds, withe format similar to the old FIFA Club World Cup.

On Tuesday, Al Ahly – as African champions – faced Al Ain, who had beaten Auckland City, the winners of the OFC Champions League, 6-2 in the first round. Al Ahly won 3-0, with Percy Tau being an unused substitute.

Al Ahly will now face the winner between the winners of the 2024 CONCACAF Champions Cup, Pachuca and the Copa Libertadores champions, who are yet to be determined, in the next round – the so-called “Challenger Cup”. The match is set for 14 December.

Finally, the winners of that game will then play UEFA Champions League winners Real Madrid in the Intercontinental Cup final on 18 December.
