Chiefs Captain Targets ‘Dream’ For Dr. Motaung

Kaizer Chiefs captain Yusuf Maart says they want to secure a trophy to honour their legendary Chairman Dr. Kaizer Motaung.

Chiefs have endured a trophy drought that now spans to a decade and on the day of celebrating the 80th of the club’s founder, there’s real motivation for change.

Under new leadership with head coach Nasreddine Nabi, supported by his North African technical team of Khalil Ben Youssef, Majdi Safi and Ilyez Mzoughi, there’s optimism that the corner will be turned in the 2024/25 season.

“It’s a special day for each and every one as a technical team, players, for the Chairman also, to be honest to you, to be in this kind of environment, it’s something special, and those who support the team. To reach 80, it’s not easy but we thank the almighty,” Maart said to iDiski Times this morning at Naturena Village.

“To be honest with you [winning a trophy for him] is all of our dreams, to be successful in life, to bring the Chairman something as he reaches 80 years old. We will like to bring something home for him, as players and a technical team.”

Chiefs take on SuperSport United this weekend at the Peter Mokaba Stadium for their round of 16 clash in the Carling Knockout.

“I think to make it special for his birthday [against SuperSport], obviously it’s a cup game so to go to the next round, to make it special for the Chairman and for us,” he stated.

“It will be an honour to bring it [Carling Knockout trophy] home, to give it to him for his 80th birthday.”
