Former Cape Town City midfielder duo Brice Ambina and on loan defender Nathan Idumba Fasika have won promotion with Norwegian 1st Division outfit Valerenga IF.
The duo had a great time at City where at some point helped the side to reach the CAF Champions League competition in 2022.
Fasika even got recognition to be selected in the DR Congo national team squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup and 2025 AFCON qualifiers, while Ambina was named in the Cameroonian U20 side.
They both completed a move to Valerenga in Norway in January 2024, with Ambina’s move being permanent as he had signed a contract until June 2027 while Fasika is on loan until December 2024. The Cameroonian midfielder had a good season with Valeranga producing three assists and scoring one goal.

Valerenga was confirmed to have won the Norwegian 1st division title with three games to spare after they hammered Egersund 4-0 earlier this week to sit on 62 points, while second-placed Bryne are on 52 points. This means mathematically no team can reach the 62-point mark or surpass it.
It remains unclear at this stage if Valerenga will turn Fasika’s loan deal into a permanent one or ship him back to his parent club city with December less than two months away.
