Benoît Badiashile: I arrived a child, and leave a man

New Chelsea signing Benoît Badiashile (21) has taken to social media to thank AS Monaco and their fans following his departure from the club.

Badiashile came through Monaco’s academy, signing his first professional deal with the club in February 2018, and making his debut later that year. During his time at the Principality club, Badiashile amassed 135 appearances, featured in the Champions League and even wore the captain’s armband, all before the age of 21.

This season, he made his France debut, featuring twice for Les Bleus during the September international break. Following negotiations, Badiashile’s transfer to Chelsea was finally confirmed on Thursday. Get French Football News understands that the fee is in the region of €40m, and the Frenchman signed a seven-and-a-half-year deal with the Premier League side.

Following the confirmation of his departure, Badiashile took to social media to express his gratitude towards the club that trained him. In a post on Twitter, he said, “I will never have enough words to sum up my story with the mythical club that is AS Monaco. I have experienced everything at this club: from the training centre to my debut in Ligue 1. Launched by Thierry Henry, I wore this shirt with pride more than 100 times. I have felt your support for seven years, in the good moments and the bad ones, and know that I will never forget you. I arrived a child, and leave a man. I will forever have red and white in my heart. Thank you for everything and Daghe Munegu!”
